Celebrate the days of the lumberjack at “The Winter Camp”

Have you ever thought about a career change? Maybe try working in an early 20th century logging camp?

Saturday, July 29 from 12:00 to 16:00 It’s the 31st anniversary of Marten River Provincial Park Lumberjack Days!

Try to be a lumberjack!

A variety of contests It will be held for both adults and children (with prizes up for grabs!), including drive nails, guess the height of trees and throw logs.

Appreciate the skills of the experts!

If you’d rather leave it to the professionals, we’ll have the Sir Sandford Fleming Loggersports team demonstrating their ax chopping and throwing, fire making and cross saw skills. The shows will take place from 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m..

Live music

Enjoy live music inspired by local logging and landscapes from Temagami musician John Wayne Potts. The performances will begin at 12:00 and 14:00.



Our blacksmith shop will be operational throughout the event. Come see a blacksmith at work in our forge!

Travel in time

And whatever you do, don’t stop exploring the rest of the world. winter camp.

Discover the recreated camp office, bunkhouse, kitchen, climber’s hut, horse stable, hay barn and blacksmith shop. An outdoor trail display with several larger pieces of equipment. Next to the Winter Camp is the lumber museum and theaterfull of artifacts that have been donated over the years by people whose parents, grandparents or great-grandparents had been loggers.
