Ideal for both RVs and tent campers, Rideau River offers nearly 200 level campsites within mature forests and lush ferns, providing a beautifully private and peaceful experience in the fall.
RV lovers can find electric and drive-through campgrounds, all within a short walk to the boardwalk.
Some campsites at West Campground have a beautiful view of the Rideau River.
2. Beautiful fall colors
Don’t let the fields surrounding the park fool you when it comes to the fall colors of the Rideau River!
Pack your flannel and picnic blankets to enjoy a misty fall sunrise at the day-use area beneath dozens of silver maple trees that will soon begin turning beautiful shades of orange.
Throughout your campsites among tall pines, you’ll find a mix of maples, aspens (Trembling Aspen), and oaks, providing different fall colors as the season progresses.
3. Great for families
Rideau River is a smaller park with flat paths, making it a wonderful park for families to explore by bike or on foot.
The park’s 1.5km linear coastal path is a great family activity, taking you along the water’s edge throughout the park. Be sure to keep an eye out for wildlife like frogs, turtles, blue herons, and more!
The day-use areas with beaches and playground are centrally located and offer plenty of space for family fun.
4. Boat rentals and excellent fishing opportunities.
Did you know that the Rideau River is part of the Rideau Canal UNESCO World Heritage Site?
Located between two locks, this area of the river offers excellent paddling and boating options, with calm waters and plenty of possibilities for day trips from the water.
Canoes, kayaks and SUPs can be rented at the park entrance gate on Saturdays and Sundays until closing weekend.
