Every March, cross-country skiers of all levels descend on Quetico Provincial Park and the nearby town of Atikokan for the Cross Quetico Tour.
Typically known for its world-class wilderness canoeing opportunities, Quetico’s interconnected waterways make for a winter location for a ski adventure like no other.
The Cross Quetico Tour is scheduled for March 21, 2020. Transportation to the park and dinner are included in the registration fee. Consider staying after dinner to see a screening of the Reel Paddling Film Festival (hosted by the Path of the Paddle Association).
The event is organized by Beaten Path Nordic Trails in partnership with Quetico Provincial Park. To register or for more information, visit or email Chris Stromberg (organizer).
The one-day Cross Quetico Tour is a group event where participants are encouraged to stay together along their choice of 35, 45 or 60 km routes, stretching from the town of Atikokan south to the border of Quetico Park, and then east along the canoe routes. from Batchewaung and Pickerel lakes to the trail’s end point at the park’s Dawson Trail Campground.
The Cross Quetico Tour is a true nature experience. All trail care stops at the park boundaries and skiers make their own runs through the park’s shuttles and pristine waterways. No matter what the conditions are on the day of the ride, the park takes on its own memorable character and skiers can experience the park in a truly unique way.
Find a map of the route and photographs of past events on the Heart of the Continent website.
